An access log features a record of all the files which have been requested by the visitors while surfing around your Internet site. The list is detailed, so when you have a webpage with two embedded images, for example, all of the three files shall be in the log, not just the page. An access log usually features the date, the OS, the browser and the IP address for each file in human-readable form, so you can get an idea about the most popular files on your site. The log, that is also often named "raw data", is an addition to the web stats which you typically get with a hosting account, not a substitute. An example why you may need this kind of a log is if you wish to use some software on your PC to prepare a report about the website’s performance, but you don't want to use the conventional graphs and tables which come with the server-generated site stats.

Access Log Manager in Shared Web Hosting

Our custom-built Hepsia Control Panel includes a section dedicated to various logs and the access logs are one of them. As you sign in to your shared web hosting account and go to this section, you will find a list of all the domain names and subdomains you have. All it takes to permit the generation of access logs is to press a button which will be available next to every single domain/subdomain. When the option is active, you will see a download link along with the file size so far, so you'll be able to save the file to your personal computer and view it or process it with some application. Enabling or disabling the logs becomes effective immediately, so if you don't require one, you could stop it with only a mouse click from the same section of the Control Panel. You shall still be able to access the already generated content by clicking on the Download link.

Access Log Manager in Semi-dedicated Hosting

When you host your sites within a semi-dedicated server account with us, you shall have the option to activate or disable the generation of access logs with only a few mouse clicks within your Hepsia hosting Control Panel. You'll find this feature inside the Access/Error Logs section, which you can access as soon as you sign in. All it takes for our system to start creating logs is one click on the On button which you will see there. The feature can be triggered individually for any website no matter if it uses a domain name or a subdomain and you'll find the complete list of all the hosts in that section. Any access log can be downloaded as a text file with a click and you can then see it manually or use some software on your laptop or computer. The log generation can be deactivated by simply switching the On option to Off inside the Logs section of your CP.
